KAWS on CBS News

Yesterday on CBS News, Charles Osgood’s Sunday Morning will feature a piece on KAWS and his recent exhibition at Gering & López.

He’s one of the hottest names in the art world … and he has an unusual name to be sure, KAWS. After making his name in the graffiti world in the 1990s in Jersey City, KAWS left that life behind and started to paint canvases and design products. With his bright colors and clean, crisp lines, his work is perfection to many fans. Many musicians have taken note: Hip-Hip mogul Pharrell Williams has filled his Miami home with KAWS’ work. Kanye West asked KAWS for colorful designs for his latest album cover.

Working from a small Brooklyn studio, the shy 34-year-old has also created products with massive brands, including Nike, Lucasfilm and Marc Jacobs. KAWS’ rising star has now led to high-profile solo shows in art galleries in New York, Miami, and an upcoming show in Los Angeles. KAWS talks to correspondent Serena Altschul and steps out of his studio to meet the fans.

The Amazing Spider-Man Special Inauguration Day Comic Book Release

As a child Spider-Man was one of my favorite comic book super heroes. With the changing of the leadership just under way. Marvel comics released a special inauguration edition of The Amazing Spider-Man yesterday which dons his friendly neighborhoodness taking a picture of the president elect on the front cover. Now while the book maybe sold out you can try ebay or a lo-key book store near you.

Going down on January 19th Stussy DC and Commonwealth have decided to team up and present an event entitled; Historic. All in celebration of soon-to-be President, Barrack Obama’s inauguration. If in Washington, DC be sure to celebrate this historic event the night before with special guests Bun B and Wale at the Stussy DC Chapter Store. In addition, special edition Stussy DC X Commonwealth tees will be released. Hors’Dourves and drinks will be served, as well as sounds by Jerome Baker III. The Changes Exhibition at Mu Gallery Eindhoven

Comprised of Misha and Shauna (PAM), designer Sk8thing (BBC/Bape) and Fergadelic (Nevermind/Tonite), The Changes offers a artistically talented collective of staple names in the industry. The groups latest project involves an exhibition at Mu Gallery in Eindhoven. The show displays work from all the artists in a very uniform setting that will remain open until this Sunday December 14th, 2008.

Cedric Delsaux Star Wars Series Artwork

French photographer Cedric Delsaux has photographed popular Star Wars characters in city settings. Pretty dope idish. The effect that these intergalactic kat are in parading around the city are actually model toys superimposed on to the shots of Parisian architecture to create the illusion of realism.

Here is the trailer for the new animated movie titled The Sky Crawler.
Plot:

Private war contractors enlist fighter pilots to perform their services in an endless "war as entertainment." They call these pilots Kildren. Innocent-looking teenagers in appearance, Kildren never age into adulthood, and live in a state of eternal adolescence until the day they drift gracefully through the endless skies.
